Ultimate embeddable copyright symbol…thanks to Martin Nachtwey

Superstar snapper Martin Nachtwey has been in touch to help us all prevent image theft.

Here’s his email:

“Hi Guys, thought you might like to know how I get around people nicking my middle class disaster pics and selling them on..

What I do is use a perspex © symbol that I dangle in front of the lens. It works a treat. No man, big or small, is stripping that

mofo out of the image…I don’t see any problem in letting your readers in on the secret…all you need is a sheet of perspex, a jigsaw, a stick and some thread.

I have written all the small print onto the sign, so it is only readable under enlargement/reproduction. Another benefit of my method is that it works for film as well as digital!

I have attached a couple of pics from my latest series, parks and spiders. As you can see, you can even use the symbol to creative effect.

Cheers from the battlefields of Surrey

M”

Wow…thanks Martin.

Without further ado, here are the pics:

Maybe we should auction this for the photographers benevolent fund …

  2. duckrabbit says:

A better thought … shouldn’t we copyright this copyright tool?

  3. Duck… it’s copyRIGHT. The RIGHT TO COPY. Nothing about WRITING copy, that’s what advertising people do.

Tobie The Spelling Policeman (a dying breed to be sure)

  4. ok now how do I remove my comment so I don’t look like a prat?

  5. Craig says:

This is cool, what I’m waiting for is the Leica version. Surely they can build this into an M9, knock up a Martin Nachtwey diamanté logo and flog it for ten grand? Limited edition, of course…
