‘The Fallen’ – this is why the BBC matters

Benjamin

I pretty much never watch TV. For most of my life I haven’t even owned one.¬† Not that I have anything against TV, I love it. That’s the problem.¬† No TV, problem solved.

Saturday night though I found I was up in front of one waiting for Match of the day to start.¬† I flicked over to two and found myself staring down the barrel of a documentary that ranks amongst the greatest films I’ve had the honor to watch.

The Fallen is ‘A powerful and poignant film in which families and friends of those who have died fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq talk openly about their loved ones and their grief. Epic in scale and spanning seven years of war, this landmark three-hour film gives a rare insight into the personal impact and legacy of this loss.’

Words don’t do it justice. This film is important. That’s why the BBC is great. No-one else would have had the balls to commission such a work.

You have seven days to watch this on-line but I would hope that the BBC wlll ensure it stays up forever.

p.s. Desiree from Visual Editors (great blog check it out) has just commented that you can’t view this in America.¬† Sorry about that!

Wish the BBC would let us in the U.S. watch this! I’d love to see it.
