The sight of homeless people in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa

Wherever there are problems in the world you’ll find people profiting from the pain but you’ll also find kind souls who are trying to make a difference.
Mercato is one of the biggest markets in Africa. They say you can buy anything there, even a human, dead or alive.
I once visited a project helping young girls in Mercato who were selling their bodies for less than a dollar. They were children, dressed rags looking for the next trick to put food in their mouths. Depravity is everywhere in this world, but where there is poverty it will blossom.
Kate Geraghty has put together a cracking audio slideshow featuring a charity that helps Mercato’s street kids. I know I sound like a stuck record but do you think its too much to ask to actually hear from one of these kids? It would have made this audio slideshow much more powerful and closed the gap between them and us …
