Tim Hetherington’s RESTREPO

Have to say I’m not that arsed about seeing Tim Hetherington’s new documentary Restrepo, which follows the lives of a group of American soldiers in Afghanistan throughout a year. Why? Because it will probably only accentuate an already piss poor stereotypical vision of Afghanistan, told from one side only, much as the massively overrated The Hurt Locker did for Iraq.  Don’t let that put you off though, I’m sure its powerful work and there’s obviously a clear vision and utter commitment to the work. I hope for Tim’s sake its a cracker. His concern and respect for the people he was photographing is evident on the film’s website. How many photographers do you know would bother with this? Respect:UPDATE:  A good review for Restrepo can be found here.
