A Message for the Chilean Miners…

A message for the Chilean miners from the BBC.

Apart from very well done to the rescue team of Chile. Amazing work and huge courage shown by all involved because when it got dark, it must have been really dark at times down there.

Expect a larger than 35mm format limited edition gallery portrait series to make the Sunday editorials at some point. Go on Nav… explore the inner tensions these people have and reveal the drama of their experience through a white backgrounded non smiling portrait full of ambiguity. Do it before Rankin gets to them first… oh the originality!

Seriously, entertainment is important when getting an audience. Do all forms of journalism  have to be so serious for it to be legitimate for photographers? How about this for an emotive editorial pattern for the industry; entertain, humour, inform, shock, sensitive, suffering, creative, educative, shock, entertain, artistic, inform, etc, etc.

Come on photo agencies – can we see and feel a broader range of emotions in the work?

This BBC clip tells a story but in a different way… maybe this gives us a different way of seeing Klein’s “context” for Leroy’s trade fair?

They could do quite well here in the states promoting The Chilean Miner Diet- few Americans would’ve fit in their svelte rescue capsule.
