The juxaposition is unfortunate, but obviously not deliberate. It’s an issue for any serious news with algorithmic ads. Of course the weird thing about news is that the worse it is, the more people watch, and the more ads are sold.
Yes of course, you’re right, they didn’t do it on purpose. But they’re not stupid either. There has to be a better way of doing this?
