Photowrap….check this out…
Written by David WhiteNo, Photowrap is not some sort of dodgy photographer’s beat box competition, aaiiiight? It is an exciting new series of online documentary photography workshops. The project is directed and tutored by the impressive and experienced Mimi Mollica.
The duck like this. It will be a good way to learn. Online learning is not perfect, but it can be damn effective, and I’m sure Photowrap will be a success.
Little bit of blurb:
“Officially introduced by curator Sophie Howarth during the last edition of Format Festival in Derby in March 2011, Photowrap consists of an intense three-weeks photographic workshop solely based online. Using platforms like Flickr and Skype the participants to the workshop don’t need to travel or plan expensive trips to exotic places. Students from all over the world, and from all walks of life, can log in on the private Flickr Photowrap group to take part in live discussions on the workshop given theme, upload their photographs and follow the tasks given every other day. Skype will be used for a series of one-to-one sessions that will regularly take place to tailor the tutoring around the students needs and time-schedules.
In addition to that, each participant will enjoy the presence of three special-guest reviewers (high profile personalities and professionals from the industry) to engage in a constructive, and exclusive, review of their work.”
Once the course is finished, the photographers essays will be published in the ever-growing Photowrap website (www.photowrap.org) through which they will receive international exposure.
