Written by David WhiteThe University College Falmouth has some damn keen photography students. I was down there last week running a Photofilm workshop, and
I set a deliberately challenging schedule. A bit like real life in fact. I gave the students a couple of days notice that they had to find a story to cover. We then spent our first morning looking at and dissecting effective Photofilms. The students then had one afternoon to gather content, and a day and a bit to build their pieces, most of them using hardware, software and techniques that they had not used before. Respect to all those who stepped up and got involved.
I paired the students up, so that they could learn from each other, and understand the value of collaboration. The piece below is the work of James Allen and Marco Kesseller. They put a lot of effort in, and it shows. James at least is no stranger to the format, his previous work on PTSD a standout…see this piece entitled “Exocet” about a Falklands veteran who feels like he is re-living his worst day over and over.
