Please Support The Gay Families Project
Written by duckrabbitI was bought up in a ultra religious homophobic house. My dad once told me that ‘bugger’ was the worst word in the English language. I honestly think he would have rather me commit murder than turn out to be gay. I nearly did, just to piss him off.
How things have changed. One of my youngest sons’s friends has two mums and a dad. Nobody at school bats an eyelid, at least in the open. Behind closed doors many families, especially religious ones still bring up their kids to think its wrong to be gay; as if its some kind of perverted choice. So whilst my youngest son hangs out with a gay family, my oldest has a friend who uses the word ‘gay’ only when slagging someone off. I know which of my kids two friends is getting the best upbringing.
All this is to say I really appreciate the photographer Stefan Jora’s Gay Family Project. The Project (www.GayFamiliesToday.com) has as objective the creation of a photobook featuring American families with parents who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ).
Stefan’s work is touching and fresh. Donna Ferrato said it best
Stefan, [your Gay Families Project] is revolutionary. Brave, disquieting and loving. The subjects are too wonderful for words. I was moved by your position throughout. And so pleased to see how you work no formulas with your photos. Very few photographers would be as naturally accepted as you were in this kind of a sensitive situation. You did not let them down or betray their trust.

Hey,
I read the article and to say that it’s your choice to live your life as ano Adult,but i passionately appeal that you don’t include our loving and innocent children to grow up with a Gay family. It’s an abuse of their innocent rights to proper parental upbringing and that itself is a against NORMAL LIFE STYLE.
Most Children brought up under single Parent also experience a society slagging and here we have a Gay planning to bring up Children? The world is wicked,but do not extend it to Children. They don’t deserve it.

There is no such thing as ‘normal life style’. I’m wondering what human right you think is being abused? For a child to be bought up by loving parents is the most important thing.
Many children are bought up by gay parents very successfully. Children from mixed race families used to be slagged off. Some still are. Should we ban mixed race marriages because of that?
What children don’t deserve is people labeling their parents as wicked. That’s hurtful and damaging and doesn’t make for a better world.
