Thank God somebody’s called it. We can now go back to work.
Oh. Bollocks.

That’s a relief!
I agree that photography (especially photojournalism) has taken a serious hit, but I dont agree that photography is over for me and many others that continue to tell stories.
I just came back from California working on a story ‘Faces of foreclosure’ Hope you are having a good summer!
Just came back from california after 3 weeks been working on Foreclosure stories with several families who have recently lost their homes. These subjects are glad to see their important stories told. Sorry for these folks photography is NOT over.

This is great and important work Joseph (your project on foreclosures).
Joerg’s video is pisstake (with European humor) out of the absurd idea that photography is somehow over.
Not sure what prompted David/Joseph’s post (apart from avin a laugh).
However, there was a three day symposium recently at the SFMOMA where this was the theme.
All online at youpube: http://bit.ly/pm9vm6
All the papers are posted on the museum’s website as well.
Timing’s a tad off, general presentation needs a bit o’ work, along with production values (multi-media, wall of sound background score?)- not quite Onion ready… besides, everyone’s always known photography’s the bastardized, lower art form of those who can’t draw for those who don’t read.
