Dear Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings

I began my love affair with your music during one of those runs of late nights where nothing much makes sense and sleep is a darkness to be fought off.

Some people can map their lives out with photographs but for me its the music that has left the deepest mark.

That’s why I’ve been waiting five years to see you guys play. Its one of only a handful of things that I wanted to do just for me before I die.

Tuesday night I saw you flood the Manchester academy with your beatific sound.

I’m still trembling.

Justin, did I ever tell you, you have great taste in music?

I wish I’d bought tickets to more of her gigs, Hope that she doesn’t wait another seven years to come back.
