Just a quick plug for David Hockney’s ‘A Bigger Picture’ Exhibition at the Royal Academy.  Fantastic stuff – particularly liked his video installation of the Yorkshire countryside in summer and winter, filmed at a walking pace using a grid of HD cameras.  Seen on a huge video wall in a darkened hall of the RA – it’s a totally absorbing half hour of viewing.  So if you’re in London and have the time I’d recommend a visit.  And if not here’s a bit of the man himself talking about how he made it.

I like the way Hockney is keeping up to date rather than resting on his laurels.

  2. Peter says:

Definitely – the work he’s made on the iPad is well worth a look too

Speaking as a long time admirer of Hockney, from the very early painting all the way through his multi media work, this is such a beautiful concept and realized, as ever, beautifully.
