I have a new favourite newspaper. It’s the Herald from Zimbabwe. Every day for nearly a fortnight it made me laugh out loud. When I saw this front page yesterday however I nearly choked on my sadza. Everyone I show it to makes a face of such priceless incomprehension that I have to show it to you.

I personally have not touched the picture in photoshop, although I have a sneaky suspicion someone has. I can’t prove it though…maybe there are such things riding around on the back of bicycles. Apart from the slight catastrophe illustrated below, everything else in the Herald was and is absolutely, positively, the truth.

So – Front page of the ‘features’ section, illustrating a story apparently about child ritual killings:

Caption left reads: “Children are at the mercy of ritual killings by greedy individuals seeking a quick getaway wealth”

And a little tighter:

Caption right reads: ” A man cycles along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway…Masvingo’s proximity to South Africa has been blamed for teh (sic) spate of ritual murders”

Masvingo’s proximity to South Africa has patently got sod all to do with it.
