Thievery, and Volvos.

God damn it. Some bastard has just been round the back of my house and half inched a beautiful and incredibly heavy B20 engine for my ancient Volvo Amazon, and thieved my beloved welder.

I don’t know why I’m telling you.. other than to ask you to keep your eye out down the pub. Down the bloody scrapyard more like. Oh, and I suppose it’s a good opportunity to post a pic of the car the engine was for, and which the welder has welded (sob). This car is my sanity when all the world goes to shit. Oh, her name’s Lola by the way. If you see her, give her a wave.

To keep this post on a photographic bent I used some off camera flash. So there.

Thanks. I feel better now. A bit.

  1. Bastards! I’ve a 22 year old Land Rover as my daily drive, which I weld. When you’ve welded something you don’t just join the metal bits, you fuse some of yourself in there too. (and I’ve always loved those old Volvos too).

Ahh…John. You are so right. I knew someone would understand 🙂

    Thanks.

Your Landie is just a wee whippersnapper..the old girl above is as ancient as me…42..

  3. If my drive was as old as me it would need a horse in front of it!

Bugger. I wouldn’t know how to weld, or what to do with an engine that wasn’t in a car, but I know bastards when I’m told about them.

Oh that’s AWFUL!!! Beautiful car… just a total classic. We had a similar thing happen here… a lot of it going around. Really so sorry for you David.

I’ve seen burly gentlemen with transit pick ups searching for ‘scrap’ metal round the back of my house too. My advice get into old MG’s Morrises, Austins, or Triumphs. They rotted so badly that there’s plenty of engines left over! I have an old MGB roadster and my local dealer has half a barn full of serviceable 1800cc B series engines. And a field full of terminal MGB GT shells
