(Get some) Momentum
Written by David WhiteYou are cordially invited to the private view tonight of the 2nd year UCF Press and Editorial students’ work, on show at the Calumet gallery, Drummond Street, London village. Even though tonight is the private view, you are invited, because I like you (except when you’re drunk).

Uzuazoraro Alexander Emaviwe, a young prince from a clan in the southern part of Nigeria. He was born in Nigeria, and moved to the UK when he was 13. He moved to South East London with his family except for his Dad who stayed back for business. Alex had never travelled out of Nigeria before moving to the UK, and things were different. He moved to Cornwall from London through a University transfer in 2010. ‘I never intended to come this far from London…but it happened. One of the things that shocked me was the fact that I’ve grown up seeing a canvas of different colours, cultures and nationalities around me, then I moved to Falmouth and it was like, Oh there’s not a lot of black people here…wow this is shocking! One thing I did notice straight away was that I did get funny looks when I be walking down the road…I wouldn’t call it racism, but I have seen some very ignorant looks around here.’
