Fancy a date?…

I can’t stand the things myself, way too sickly. Here’s something way, way better, but just as sweet…

Monday night (tomorrow) is the multimedia slideslam night run by the Press & Editorial students of University College Falmouth. It’s a free, open evening, and you are encouraged to bring your own work to show. It’s hosted by Adam Westbrook, runs from 6.30 pm, and you may even get a free drink. All you’ve got to do is find your way to foto8 in Honduras Street, London town, That’s not all however, Tuesday night is going to be equally fascinating, if not more so…a panel discussion with some great speakers around the theme of ‘Emerging Photographers in Emerging Markets’. Below are a few pics from the opening night of the week of events curated by the students…it was a roaring success and quite frankly has lifted the bar in respect to how photographers should show and distribute their work.

Read on to find out more and how to get involved:

Viewing work downstairs..

Mo Hussein’s work being carefully perused..

Marco Kesseler’s book receiving attention..

Elliot Barnes’s book and Anna Marie Nielsen’s work on British women converting to Islam on the desk..

Outside the gallery..

Looking at the exhibition’s accompanying newspaper..which is a must see btw..

Mo Hussein, left, chatting whilst a plastic gun points at his head…the image projected is by Simon David as part of his essay on pretend soldiers.

Reflections on work..with the inimitable Mal Stone holding a beverage.

Jon Ross Elliot finishes his beer..

View from the street.

Champagne shower…all the students waste the bubbly.

Whilst you are at the gallery you can look at the frankly fantastic and deliciously diverse work produced by some of the freshest eyes in photography today…all produced by the same Press & Editorial students referenced above..I was there for the opening of the exhibition and start of the week of events last Thursday night…and what a night it was..I’m not going to show the work here, the students have done a much, much better job of doing that on their own website.

I just want to say a huge THANKYOU to each and every student for their efforts and stories, it has been an honour and a privilege working with you.
