“It’s our opinion that story-tellers should focus on their project, and editors and publishers have a responsibility to work out how they can make money from the content and pay the story-tellers.
One of our strongest founding principles is that in order for independent reportage to survive, it must be valued and appreciated. This magazine has been created by journalists and photographers so we know that it isn’t possible to survive on by-lines and oxygen. We will always strive, as a priority, to pay our contributors as much as we can afford.”
Amen to that.
And if you agree, Auto de Fe awaits you.

Hey John & Duckrabbit,
Thanks for this post, it’s much appreciated.
Glad you like what we’re doing and hope you enjoy the magazine. We launched our first iPad edition yesterday (you can download it here: http://autodefemag.com/)and the response has been lovely. Downloads all over the world!
We look forward to sharing the stories online this weekend too, for those people who don’t have iPads.
Cheers again!
J
You are most welcome.
We love good writing. We love good photography. We really love people who do both and try to enable others to do it too. And we utterly adore those who make a huge effort to pay people for their creative endeavours.
Good work should be rewarded whenever possible, because it encourages everyone to try harder. And from that we all benefit.
Indeed… Amen to that! And thanks again 🙂
