A dose of Malawi
Written by duckrabbitFor the last week I’ve been working in Malawi on a campaign for the charity Oxfam.
These are a few pics I’ve taken of a morning on the journey from Blantyre to the village we’ve been working in.
As you travel through the mist it’s like stepping into another world. One of uncertainly, fragility, broken dreams, but also incredible strength and dignity. Families fighting to survive. Often single mums struggling without complaint to feed their kids. Hard working women kept going by the thought that their children might have a better life.
It’s affected me deeply.
I came out here all professional, fired up, with a job to do, and have slowly found my heart, that I had forgotten even existed, painfully coming back to life. Reminding me just how selfish and just how lucky I am.
It’s not too late to live a different life.
It’s not too late to change.

Perhaps it’s also not too late for someone “all professional” to proofread your own blog posts and correct the spelling errors.
Learn the difference between “its” and “it’s” — the little things count.
Hi Jim,
True, you found me out, after just a few hours sleep and running out the door I had more important things to do this morning then proofread a few words I threw up on the blog. The horror!
They’ll always be someone who can’t see beyond an apostrophe.
Well, I think I might have said “for someone “all professional” to proofread their own blog posts ”
Unless of course I was assuming that duck has a third party proof reader working on his behalf.
Or of course I could have used a couple of those prostrate apostrophes, y’know – the commas, and it might have made more sense:
“Perhaps it’s also not too late, for someone “all professional”, to proofread your own blog posts and correct the spelling errors.”
But WTF do I know. I got thrown out of school for being crap at most of the useful stuff, and I’m still learning this writing malarkey.
Wow JB – nice post. I’m guessing you don’t get out too much?
Impressive talent ya got there JB! It’s just that kind of incredible attention to detail that allows one to remain blind to the atrocities committed in one’s name…
Moody Malawi. I like it, Ducks. Cool pics.
It’s got to be one of the best places on the planet and there is no one anywhere that couldn’t learn a thing or two from the way of life in Malawi. Thanks for your words (as well as your pictures). Next time come back here on holiday!
Lovely images!
