Had the summer hols in Britain this year. Driving through a small village I noticed through the swish-swish-swish of the wipers a pub menu board in a street that said “Please god, please, stop washing the chalk off me”
Walked down a country lane that didn’t really exist any more, save for a pile of peeled-off tarmac strewn in a field 100m away, ravaged by a flash flood that left a three foot gouge in the soil.
And sat on the beach with the soft patter of rain on my hood.

But, look on the bright side – no problems getting a deck chair!
Yes, its the small things that matter.
