Just because the picture has been photoshopped doesn’t mean what you are looking at isn’t real

‘This image shows a snap shot in time of the vortex structures that are generated around a truck. My research uses computational methods to investigate the aerodynamic properties and stability of road vehicles. As environmentalist groups put increasing pressure on industry to reduce carbon emissions, newly designed vehicles are often more fuel efficient and lightweight. Due to this general trend it is becoming more important to understand the dynamics of airflow around vehicles as they become harder to control at high speeds

This image is part of a solution to some incredibly complicated equations. So complicated that it took 100 computers approximately 19 days to calculate. This is equivalent to your own home computer working at full power for just over 5 years.’ Nainesh Patel
