Payback Institute for Strategic Dialogue

Adam Deen joined the Islamist extremist organisation, al-Muhajiroun, whilst at university in London. He rose to become one of its senior members, under Omar Bakri Muhammed.

On 9/11 he drove the streets of London celebrating at the blow that had been struck against the West. But Adam later became disillusioned with his extremist beliefs and with al-Muhajiroun. He is now dedicated to countering extremism and the ideology that he once subscribed to.

‘Payback’ was produced in the UK for Extreme Dialogue, an EU-funded counter extremism initiative produced by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue and the Tim Parry Jonathan Ball Foundation for Peace. The film won first prize in the Crossover Web Documentary Film Festival 2016.
