Picture in Bristol? £150 please.

Filming Permits

The city of Bristol operates a permit system for all location filming and photography. Applications for a permit should be submitted to the Bristol Film Office as soon as possible by fax using the Filming Permit Application Form.

Don’t worry, the application is only 5 pages long, with a minimum charge of £150.

Way to go Bristol Council!!! charging it’s own residents and visitors to take pictures of the docks, the parks, the Downs, and any other property owned by the council.

The council are refusing to discuss the issue, but have put up a feedback form here…

Please let the council know why this is a very bad idea for individual photographers….it’ll take 2 minutes to fill out….and don’t be rude…

Cheers m’dears.

  1. Jenny Lynn Walker says:

Are you certain this applies to street photography? If you are, why not send a copy to Martin Parr who lives in Bristol? Would be interesting to hear what he has to say about it.

    • David White says:

Well, the Council make no distinction, so in theory, yes, as their terms state only “photography” There needs to be clarification.
It would be great to get Martin to test it. I’ll ask him. I think I know the answer though..
