Stay with me – Maximiliano Braun

Following on from duckrabbit’s last post I’d like to congratulate Maximiliano Braun on receiving a Getty grant for his moving project:

Stay With Me
‘The Getty Images grant will allow me to continue a project I began in South Africa, looking into the lives of families caring for a relative living in a vegetative state due to brain damage.

I was fascinated that the majority of these people are being cared for at home by their families and not in hospitals, leaving me in awe of these people’s private struggles. The families I documented feel stranded and without support or advice about their situations. Their stories show how families are stretched mentally and socially by the constant daily battle to keep their relatives alive, while fighting to remain optimistic for their recovery.’
