Written by David WhiteThis is the classified US military video that Reuters have been trying to get hold of for years. Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack (2007). The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gunship, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee (Saeed Chmagh) and his rescuers. Released today on Wikileaks, the whole incident is repulsive, but the bit where they shoot an injured, unarmed Saeed and those who have come to help him is a fucking disgrace. The casual, nonchalant language used by the soldiers is sickening also, but I s’pose that goes with the territory.
Reality check: This video is very graphic, upsetting and real.

In rice paddies, mountain villages, or desert streets- this is how we “liberate.”
And this is far from an aberration- it’s just that what we’re usually shown is the “hero” soldier carrying the child from harms way.
