Bicycle portraits

Here is a great piece of work that I originally saw round at Rebecca and Mike’s house in Easton, Brizzle. They were organising the Life.Still part of the Bristol festival of photography. It looked awesome on a huge monitor…it has suffered slightly in the downsizing….it is still a great watch though, with wonderful portraits and a real positivity, which is always welcome at the duck.

Peddle over here and see what this is all about…it’s a great project.

Stan Engelbrecht & Nic Grobler – Bicycle Portraits

The Bicycle Portraits project was initiated by Stan Engelbrecht and Nic Grobler
early in 2010. Whenever they can, together or separately, they’re on the lookout
for fellow commuters, and people who use bicycles as part of their everyday work,
to meet and photograph. They’re finding out who rides bicycles, why they ride
bicycles, if and why they love their bicycles, and of course why so few South
Africans choose bicycles as a transport option.

Being avid cyclists themselves, this project is as much an investigation into South
African bicycle culture as it is an excuse for them to ride their bikes and take
photographs.

This project is ongoing and you can take part at bicycleportraits.co.za
