Park reprieve !!

St.Anne’s park in Brizzle has been saved! Selling it off would be “Too contentious” according to Bristol City Council. Well, no shit sherlock. The pic above shows the “underused and low quality” (Council quote, not mine) land they wanted to sell. Quite a lot of use in an hour. The camera took a pic every ten seconds. I would like to think that the above pic helped a bit in saving the park, exposing as it did the council’s flawed assessment processes. ( The local paper ran it across the front page and BBC radio Bristol had me on talking about it) but tbh it was the massive combined opposition from the public that swung it. At least the council seem to have listened, and maybe looked, for once.

BRILLIANT … and yeah having that photo on the front page of the newspaper DID make a different … just goes to show, if you want to make a difference with your photography be creative … the message, the story is more important than the aesthetic.

David, I am confused, don’t you need to go to Somalia to make a difference?

    I did. It didn’t.
