Eye Wonder…women photographers 1865-now.
Written by David WhiteThere is what sounds like an epic exhibition running at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, in New York.
Called “Eye Wonder: Photography from the Bank of America Collection””, the images are from the Bank of America’s extremely extensive, and expensive, photography collection. This is the first time that some of their images have been catalogued by sex, according to the Washington Post. Images are from 1865 to the present, and I wish I could take a look. There are pics from, amongst many others, Berenice Abbott, Margaret Bourke-White, Rineke Dijkstra, Gisèle Freund, Candida Höfer, Graciela Iturbide, Dorothea Lange, and Hellen van Meene. It really does sound like a treat. I’ve always thought women make the best photographers…maybe the proof is at 1250 New York Avenue until May 22nd.
