An Immaculata conception…or how to take decent pics with your mobile.

“If everyone has a camera in their cell phone, does that make us all potential photographers? In that case, shouldn’t we be learning how to use them?’

Makes sense. I can’t even manage to put mine in my pocket without my arse ‘phoning my Mum. As for taking pics with it, well, I think it can. Knowing me I have probably taken many pics of the inside of said pocket.

Perhaps what I need is a mobile/cell ‘phone photography class…

Well, what do you know….Immaculata University in Philadelphia is going to be running Cell phone photography classes.

Professor Sean Flannery’s new class “will focus not only the technical and artistic aspects of photography, but also the ethical responsibilities that come with having such a handy recording device with you everywhere you go.”

Ethics? Steady on. Is there an app for that?

  1. There’s a photographer in Raleigh, NC (Shawn Rocco) who’s been taking photos with his cell phone camera for a few years now—he’s got some great photos, including a portrait of President Obama.

    There’s a “greatest hits” video here: http://cellularobscura.blogspot.com/2009/06/cellular-obscura-presentation-for-look3.html
