SF Digital Photography
Written by duckrabbitThis shows just how gullible people can be when it comes to photography.
SF Digital Photography are offering GROUP ON members 79% off a three hour digital photography course. That means you pay just £29 rather than £139.
Sounds a good deal right? Well over 400 people seem to have thought so, snapping up the deal.
First off you’d want to know who is training you, but unfortunately nobody knows who SF Digital are because this is what that say about themselves on their website:
Still with a normal price of £139 for three hours you would expect just a couple of trainees in each training session, right?
Wrong.
According to the small print the group size is up to 25 people per class! That means ‘normally’ SF Digital Photography would take £3475 for putting on three hours of training, led by an unknown person.
Someone should tell Steve McCurry; just imagine he could probably get away with charging $10000.

i suckered myself into a similar deal. it was with a ‘respectable’ studio in SF but did not specify the instructor. let’s just say people with dslrs are hungry for workshop type deals, including me who keeps taking classes and workshops which don’t go past a certain point past of ‘beginner’. i should’ve demanded a description past the mere title of “lighting workshop” but in my blind consumerist frenzy and thirst for photo knowledge i figured i would have access to a professional. professional he was, but the workshop was spend looking at some photographer’s slideshow for an hour and half(which I already do while sitting in my cubicle). people kept interrupting to ask, is that photoshopped or is it not?
in the instructor’s credit. we did get to see some results of him using strobes on a big screen but overall these courses are catered to beginner dslr users who are in awe of wireless pocket wizards and tethered lap top images in a professional studio setting. if i would’ve got demanded a better description of the workshop. i prolly would not have wasted my $95. i actually left early, cuz i learned more on youtube and blogs than i did at this workshop. that’s just me.
