All change and updates

David is now degree leader of the Press and Editorial photography course at Falmouth  uni.

Peter Rudge joins duckrabbit as a new Director of defense against dark arts. Let’s hope he lasts longer than his colleagues at Hogwarts.  I met Pete in the lift of the Hilton hotel in Addis Ababa, which just goes to show you should be careful who you talk to in the lift.

Joni Karanka (Third Floor Gallery co-founder) and photographers Sara Trula  and John Macpherson are now blogging here. THANKS to them for some great posts.

We’ve managed to hang on to Georgina Cranston who is working on Where From, Where Now? an ELITE sponsored project telling the stories of UK women who have become homeless.  I had the privilege of listening to some of the audio recently which included one of the most powerful interviews I have ever heard.  No pressure there then Georgina.

Following our post Magnum tweeted to let us know they have added David Hurn to their professional practice seminar in Birmingham.

Following another post Marco Vernaschi’s child grave digging exploits have reappeared on the Wikipedia entry for the Pultizer Centre on Crisis Reporting. The critical comments on Pulitzer’s site that disappeared when they moved to a new commenting system are also back. To this date neither World Press, Pulitzer or Marco Vernaschi can prove that his World Press winning photos were not staged.  Don’t hold your breath on that one.

All our workshops are now sold out this year. Plenty more next year when The Hinterlands will be back and we’ll also be doing more stuff in Canada (Contact photo festival) so do get in touch.

Finally, neither berets or ferrets are back in fashion; don’t let that put you off though.

Seems like we have quite good regional representation! Any ‘correspondents’ in Belfast or Glasgow?

  2. Sara Trula says:

I just want to say that I only joined for the ducks, the rabbits, and the ferrets.

    Can’t ever forget the ferrets.

  3. duckrabbit says:

Well we have London (which is a county), Wales, Scotland, Cornwall and Manchester covered. Hell we’re almost global.

  4. JKaranka says:

Great, we can use this thread to congratulate each other. Oh, and congratulations to David!

  5. My nickname in school (I kid you not)and still used by some folks today, was ferret. What else can I add………..

  6. Sara Trula says:

    Yup, congratulations David! 😀

We could always station a ferret at an outpost in Switzerland, if we want to be international. Or maybe sending it to a war zone would be better. I always wondered what a goat fuck ferret might look like.

  7. Sara Trula says:

Um, hi John! We cross posted. *blushing*

  8. David White says:

Thanks all, will be back on here more once I have my head around my awesome maelstrom of a job. It is a very exciting time to be a rabbit.

You know, if you wanted a few hours’ respite from the job, you could always hire an absolutely awesome speaker to give a talk to your students about how to use social media for professional development…

not that I’m thinking of anyone in particular, mind. Just throwing ideas out there.

  12. Sara Trula says:
