Do you know who I am?
Written by John MacphersonGiven all the recent sage advice for students I thought you might appreciate this:
A friend was invigilator at a large exam in a college. Supervising hundreds of students sitting scribbling.
Time passed. Then ended.
“That’s it” he called “Time’s up, pens down”.
The pens descended.
“Bring your papers to the front, pile them on my desk please.”
The pile grew, into two giant piles, teetering on the brink of tumbling. Lots and lots and lots of paper.
As the crowd thinned the invigilator noticed one last student, far back in the hall, still scribbling.
“Pen down please, time’s up.” he said.
The scribbler continued scribbling.
“I wont ask again, get that pen down or I wont accept your paper!”
The scribbling continued.
“Ok last warning, pen down or I’m not accepting your paper.”
The scribbler looked up, smiled and carried on scribbling.
“Ok thats it, you had your chance, I’m not accepting your paper.”
The scribbler ignored this and continued.
The invigilator sorted his own stuff, filled his forms, checked his watch, and gathered his bits and pieces.
Then the sound of a chair moving. Footsteps approaching.
A thin, grubby, long-haired, partly shaven, but otherwise nondescript student stood there, clutching his exam paper.
“I’m not accepting it, I warned you, time was up long ago and you’ve just blown it.”
The student scratched his stubbly chin, and said “Do you know who I am?”
The invigilator replied “No I don’t and you know what…… I don’t care”.
And quick as a flash the student lifted the giant pile of exam papers, about in the middle, and thrust his exam paper into the pile, and with a wry grin said “Good!”.
And walked off whistling.
